Moon Valley Gardens
Moon Valley Gardens as shown on this map area is bounded by Thunderbird Road to the north, 43rdAvenue from the west, Peoria Avenue to the south and 7th Street to the east, with the I-17 freeway bisecting this area. The major neighborhoods within this classic community include Westcliff Park, Lake Biltmore, Fairwood, North Mountain Village, Preston Heights, Saddle Rock Hills, Canyon Foothills, Moon Hills, Heritage Highlands, Moonridge Estates, Sweetwater and Marlborough Country Metro.
For example, Lake Biltmore Estates features single family homes built in the late 1970s in a community featuring a community lake as well as a community pool, spa and tennis courts. The Sweetwater neighborhood features a variety of home styles from contemporary to territorial, and most of these single family homes were constructed in 1970 and 1971. Marlborough Country Metro, located near Peoria Avenue and 39th Avenue, has single-family homes built in the late 1970s, with no HOA. The majority of homes in Moon Valley Gardens are single family, but there are a few condominium complexes including Cherry Hill Townhomes, Woodlake Condominiums and Villas on North Mountain.
Moon Valley Gardens is centrally located to several outdoor activities, including golf and hiking. Lookout Mountain Golf Club is within this map area. Just to the north is the Moon Valley Country Club, a private club with a par 72, 18-hole championship course, redesigned by Bob Cupp and Associates. This course ranges from 5,278 yards to 7210 yards in length, and considered to be challenging for all levels of players. The country club also features a tennis center with 8 lighted hard courts, a fitness center with racquetball courts and group fitness classes, and an aquatic center with a year-round pool.
For fitness and nature lovers, North Mountain Recreation Area has a few hiking trails, one of them paved, making it perfect for beginners. Hikers looking for more of a challenge will enjoy the 1.4-mile hike to Shaw Butte. Also nearby is the Phoenix Mountains Preserve with two major hikes on Lookout Mountain. The first numbered hike is the Shadow Mountain Mega Loop, and the second is the Lookout Mountain Circumference Trail. Both are accessible from the Acoma Drive Trailhead. Many community parks dot the area of Moon Valley Gardens, including Surrey Park, Cactus Park and Rose Mofford Park.
Shopping areas include Metrocenter and its dozens of stores and restaurants, as well as many smaller shopping centers throughout Moon Valley Gardens.
